There are more than fifty historic mines in the New Idria Mining District, many such as the Picacho Quicksilver Mine as old as the New Idria Mine. Many old mining relics still remain at many of these mines. Bringing these relics and mining tools together under the New Idria Mining District Museum creates an opportunity to develop an impressive mining museums.
